Fibar Engineered Wood Fiber
Engineered wood fiber is a popular choice for playground surfaces, and for good reason: it is effective and affordable.

After having its products installed in over 50,000 playgrounds, Fibar is established as the leader in the industry. Fibar products are made from 100% virgin wood fiber and carry a certificate of purity. No recycled wood - which might contain impurities - is ever used in Fibar engineered wood products, out of concern for your child’s safety. As part of this commitment to safety, all Fibar products are tested regularly to be sure that they meet or exceed industry standards with regard to impact absorption, material purity, and wheelchair access. As an additional precaution, this testing is independently verified by the International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association (IPEMA).
Unlike some similar engineered wood products on the market, Fibar maintains strict quality control standards, ensuring that the type and size of wood fibers are such that they will knit together when installed, providing a surface with enough “give” to cushion a fall while remaining rigid enough for wheelchair traffic.
Fibar wood mulch also exhibits superior drainage properties. Since the water passes quickly through the material, children can use the playground even after even a heavy rain. And maintenance is easy – just rake the surface periodically to even out the material to a uniform depth.
